Tenkai Zuifeng (瑞風 天堺 Zuifon Tenkai) is a human that is famed as a barrier builder and she's apprentice of the barrier builders from Azumaterasu. She's also Tsurubami Senri's ally.

- While building barriers is her strong point, in the other hand repairing them is her weak point, particularly when it was made by another person. In this case she is almost unable to do that. Because of that, her master and superiors put her to work hard on barrier repairing as a training to overcome her weak point and to attack her prestige.

Tenkai comes from the Zuifeng clan, who are famed as barrier builders and even with her being inexperienced and having a small number of notable achievements, she is known as a genius. When talking about work, her family is pretty known and has a lot of acquaintances from various families, including the priest Tsurubami Senri.
It's vaguely implied that despite being talented with barriers, her master and superiors put her to work hard on barrier repairing as a training with the excuse that it's for overcoming her weak point, while it actually is to attack her prestige.
Name[]
Her given name is Tenkai (天), where the first kanji means "heaven" and the second kanji is an old-fashioned way to say "border". The kanji in her surname Zuifeng can also be read as Zuifon (瑞風) and literally mean "rising wind".

After Tsurubami spirited away humans from the Outside World and Yabusame's subsequent fight with her, the Mugenri Barrier was weakened, so Tenkai's superiors task her with the fixing of the barrier. Offended at doing such a minor task, Tenkai decided to disobey them and made a prank by creating a hole in the barrier. What she had no idea was that the soul-eater flower Harujion had just sprouted in Mugenri and it started to absorb spirits from the Outside World that came from the broken barrier. This resulted in the birth of the chimera soul Shion and a long winter in Mugenri.
After Shion is defeated, Jinbei recognizes the hole in the barrier as Tenkai's doing, so the heroines go to punish her. Yabusame and Tsubakura go because Jinbei told them so. Yaorochi and Sukune go because the orochi is genuinely angry at Tenkai for what she did to the barrier. While Kuroji and Saragimaru just want money.
